Death Row Roster (2008+2017) + Lost souls and fallen angels (2017)

... has been exhibited at LOLA LIK (a former prison) in Amsterdam.
I started the project in February 2008 as a collage of photos of all persons within Death Row of Florida Department of Correction. The actual photos originate from different Departments of Correction which are public access in the internet.
Originally the first picture was intended for an exhibition with an 'interpassive' character (interpassive here has a different meaning than Robert Pfaller´s interpassive). The original image measures 195x100cm.
Short Description: One inmates picture gets replaced by a small TFT-screen or within a projection of the whole collage. A pinhole camera makes photos of the visitors in front of a homogeneous illuminated background - without their knowledge. The head of the visitor is cropped automatically. A second camera connected to an analyzing system detects who will watch the "Death Row Roster Image" next. The picture of this person is presented on the inmates shoulders of the replaced picture.

Right now I´m more interested in spreading awarenes about the death penalty and what it means for our society. It also should give an impression about the quantity of inmates on Death Rows. The project also opens questions about how we deal with open data and public images.

Lost souls and fallen angels are dark butterfly photos, which show fallen angels and destroyed butterflies. It´s about a possible fragility of prison inmates.
